What is a Public Defender and why would a Public Defender Need our services?

The Office of the Federal Public Defender operates under authority of the Criminal Justice Act of 1964 (CJA), 18 U.S.C. 3006A.  It provides defense services in federal criminal cases to individuals who are financially unable to obtain adequate representation.  A person's elegibility for defender services is determined by the federal court.  (See Public defender-Wikipedia).

Public Defenders usually have a small staff and do not have the litigation support of a large firm.  Public Defenders are faced with the same overwhelming volume of discovery and need for litigation support and experts to provide the best possible defense.

Public Defenders will need assistance in the following areas:

  • Fraud examination
  • Forensic accounting, investigation and analysis
  • Litigation support
  • Electronic Discovery
  • Expert Witness
  • Evidence Management
  • Case mapping

The need for litigation support in today’s world of high technology inside and outside the courtroom cannot be over emphasized.

If you are charged with a crime by the Federal Government you are defending yourself against the largest litigator in the world.

We can provide the litigation support your attorney needs.  We understand your attorney will need to submit a budget to the Court estimating the cost of your defense.  We can provide your attorney with a statement of work and assist him in preparing that budget.
